Matbaren *

In my opinion there is few places that has a design that attracts me as much as Matbaren.
World super star designer Ilse Crawford really captured something genuine and swedish in a very sophisticated way with the kind of social interaction that I like.
Went there once again on my last visit to the city and I don´t know what it is but it feels like Matbaren is going back to the roots from the beginning a little bit. Mathias is one of the chefs in Sweden that cooks food that can look easy but it is so perfectly executed so it doesn´t get any better...
Personally I`m not sure that the michelin star only was good for the restaurant, I have sometimes felt that it became a little bit to much of a * restaurant rather then a bar with gorgeous food. They have the ability of transforming street and comfy food to how it was supposed to taste in heaven, finger licking !
Prices can sometimes be a little bit over the top for some reasons ( read fresh water etc ).

This time we had:

Scallop and swedish squid - lemon, garlic and parsley
Sashimi of Salma salmon and fallow deer - ginger, jerusalem artichokes and trout roe
Ceviche on perch from Sankt Annas archipelago - lemon, fennel, black pepper
Fried wild duck and gnocchi - ginger, cabbage, spring onions
Pudding on the farm milk from Järna - cloudberry, licorice, roasted wheat sour dough
Te - honey, mint and lemon

See you next time.....

They really are great, both in terms of the quality of the food and value for money. I went there last week for the second time this autumn and they already had several new, and very tasty dishes on the menu, apart from the permanent offerings. The new steamed bun was really nice and refreshing.
